Porcelain laminate veneers can be used for years with proper oral care. The reason of this is that they are produced from porcelain which has higher qualities than other adhesive systems. They are more resistant to stains and corrosion. Special emphasis must be put on oral care to increase their life-span. Moreover, you should abstain from biting hard shelled foods and bad habits such as nail biting.

What are the advantages of porcelain laminate veneers?
With a minimal intervention, a healthy and natural appearance can be achieved in a very short time.

They are produced from durable, discoloration resistant, and long-lasting materials.
It is possible for your teeth to have esthetical qualities that you want without any structural defects with only laminate. Either there is no modification made on the teeth or more excellent results can be obtained with little intervention. The layer lifted from the teeth is limited between 0.3 – 0.7 mm. Hence, there will be no need for any teeth to be cut (made smaller).

A design can be made on your teeth with which you are not pleased by copying your natural teeth. In other words, we can show you the possible change before we perform any implementation.

Because its porcelain surface is highly smooth, it decreases the possibility of plaque accumulation and stains due to smoking etc. to minimum. It does not become discolored due to external factors such as coffee, tea and cigarettes.

Its material is quite fragile. However, when it is cemented to dentine, its resistance to stretch and tension forces increases remarkably. For example, it is not possible to completely take the veneers off from the teeth. Yet, it can be removed from the teeth by dentist’s corroding them with diamond burs.
It is highly resistant to corrosion. Porcelain laminate veneers are one of the most popular and prefered treatment options in cosmetic dentistry.

What are the disadvantages of porcelain laminate veneers?
They have medical and esthetic superiority over other restorations. However, it is a little costlier system than the others.

It is a delicate technique. It requires a comparatively good clinic and laboratory performance. Dentist and dental technician are required to have sufficient technical artistic abilities and knowledge about this topic.
